do you have a project we can help with?
Foundations
At Pickhurst garden rooms we predominately created our foundations using two methods. Our first method is a typical 200mm concrete “raft” foundation strengthened with rebar. The second and preferred method is a pile system using adjustable m24 rods.
Base
After a thick weed mat is laid, the base is created using 100mm joists with a 90mm insulation infill. A moisture resistant deck is laid over the top.
Walls
The walls are framed using 100mm x 50 mm C24 timber then strengthened with a 12mm ply sheathing, a breathable membrane covers the ply. horizontal and vertical battens are added to allow air-flow. The walls are then insulated using a rigid foam board.
Roof
125mm x 50mm joists are used to frame the roof deck and covered with 18mm ply, creating a surface to take the water-proof rubber membrane. The roof structure is insulated with a rigid foam board.
Cladding
To finish the exterior walls, cladding is installed. A variety of cladding options are available with cedar being the most popular.
Windows and Doors
Currently the popular choice for doors and windows are aluminium anthracite grey, and rightly so, as they have a modern, timeless quality. However we will supply and install the doors and window of your preference.
Finishes
All our garden rooms and garden offices are completed fully plastered and decorated to the highest standard.
